Matt Swaringim releases "101" on iTunes

Matt Swaringim 101

O'Fallon, Mo. - Local musician, Matt Swaringim, has released his first album, "101", on iTunes.

A mixture of love songs that focus on faith, “101” combines positive messages and musical passion.

Swaringim's first album includes his signature single, "Love", along with "Selfish Plea" where he describes how he is preparing himself to rightly take care of a woman. In the midst of a culture that utilizes music to degrade women, Swaringim offers a better option. Treat women with respect.

Swaringim's faith no doubt inspires his songs. "Testimony in 3" and "Confess" exemplify Swaringim's heart for worship. Fans of strong worship songs will thoroughly enjoy Swaringim's "Motive to Love" where he describes his complete reliance on God's mercy.

"101" contains a total of 10 tracks including Swaringim's rendition of the classic hymn, "Amazing Grace", and a live version of "Love".

3oNe3's Cliff David, Josh Teasley and Tyler Filmore

What started off as a joke between two fraternity roommates has grown into a respectable, three-man band playing at shows around St. Louis and Columbia, Mo. They even have scheduled a show in 2011 at Panama City, Florida, during the University of Missouri’s Spring Break.

A lot can happen in 6 months as Josh Teasley would attest.

“I’ve always been into music, but it really just took a spark I guess to open my eyes to it. I’ve always sang, [but] I’ve never sang to people, you know,” Teasley said. “I guess I could have kind of seen me doing this, but I never like planned it out. It just happened. So, I never thought I would be in this situation, I’ll tell you that.”

Teasley is a sophomore at the University of Missouri. He graduated from Fort Zumwalt West and now sings and raps for his band, 3oNe3.

3oNe3 is a three-man band that mixes the genres of hip-hop, pop and alternative. The band’s members are Teasley, also known as SexyFlexy, Cliff David and Tyler Filmore.

Teasley and David became roommates when they joined Delta Tau Delta. Teasley said 3oNe3’s name comes from the room that they shared, room 313. The duo made music and even a parody of the Old Spice Odor Blocker Commercial. (If you have not seen it yet, Click Here , and go to the “Videos” section.)

The duo gained their third member, Filmore, after Teasley and Filmore created the group’s single, “One of a Kind”.

“We are really like no other band. Two of our guys play guitar. Two other of our guys sing, and two other of them rap.”

Teasley said that he enjoys a variety of music such as Drake, Mayday Parade, Panic at the Disco, Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber and The Secret Handshake.

“Other music inspires me. I’ll listen to someone else, something they did good and I’ll just be like, ‘I know that my stuff can be that good, so I just go and write,’” Teasley said.

3oNe3 is about to release their new mix tape, known as “The Reintroduction,” in July. It contains 16 tracks that are mostly cover songs.  One new single will be released on their website every Tuesday until the mix tape’s release.

“… It’s called the Reintroduction because we were once two people but now are three people,” Teasley said.

This summer, 3oNe3 is playing in St. Louis and Columbia, Mo., Chicago, and Overland Park, Kan. As the summer ends, the band will be living in Columbia, Mo., but continuing to perform around the country.

“This school year I plan on traveling to different campuses getting our name out there. And this school year we are using it to get our stage presence ready, to get our songs ready, song choice - just everything tip-top so we can just go and perform,” Teasley said.

He knows that all of this effort is getting 3oNe3 closer to its goal.

“Ultimate goal is to get paid for what we love to do and for other people to see what we like,” Teasley said.
